My name is Jamie Knafel. I am a videographer, projections and graphic designer. I am based in Vermont and New York City and currently studying at Adelphi University in Long Island, New York. I am currently pursuing a major in Film and Communications with a concentration in Digital Production and Cinema Studies. Additionally, I have completed a minor in Theater Design and Technology with a concentration in Lighting and Media Design. I grew up in Southern Vermont where I graduated from Burr and Burton Academy in Manchester, Vermont.
I am a recipient of the 2025 First Place Projections Design at the Kennedy Center American College Theater Festival and continue to expand my work in digital design, which can be seen on my website. Please reach out with any questions or just to say hello!
My designs utilize many different design programs that include the Adobe Suite Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop and InDesign for graphic design projects. Film and media projects are created using Final Cut Pro, Motion, Logic Pro and QLab. For projects requiring a fine “pen to paper” aspect, I use a Wacom Tablet to achieve a fine-detail element.

Summer 2025
I had the incredible opportunity to join the Creative Team of globally recognized American dancer and choreographer Liz Lerman, a Guggenheim Fellow and Jacob’s Pillow Dance Award recipient. In working with them, I gained hands-on experience filming rehearsals and performances while learning professional production and stage management skills. I worked closely with the Creative Producer and Stage Manager to review daily workflow and filmed content. I filmed rehearsals, performances, and performer interactions, while using a multi-camera set up, often positioning myself within the dancer’s movement to capture a full and immersive perspective. This experience allowed me to document the company’s creative process, while strengthening my videography skills in a collaborative and creative environment.

Winter 2025
I traveled with a small group of Adelphi University students to the Kennedy Center American College Theater Festival in Pittsburgh, a national program that brings together thousands of college theater students to showcase and compete in categories such as acting, musical theater, and technical design. I competed in the Design, Technology, and Management category, presenting my projections design for Adelphi’s production of Love and Information (Caryl Churchill), and was honored to receive First Place in Projections Design. This recognition for this award was a sponsored trip to the United States Institute of Theater Technology and Entertainment (USITT) conference in Columbus, Ohio, where my work was displayed along with eight other awarded students. At USITT, I participated in master classes, networked with professionals from major entertainment organizations, and watched incredible live event shows, gaining valuable insight to the live entertainment industry.
